FAQ on Voice Over Agents

What are Voice Over Agents?

Voice over agents are your representation in show business, the people who try to negotiate you good deals for projects that you want. A voice over agent is not a lawyer per se, but they are in touch with your lawyer. It is important to keep in mind that a voice over talent agent works for you, not the other way around. You can fire them if you so desire. It is a voice over agent’s responsibility to find you work. If they don’t, move on.

Is a Voice Over Agent a Former Actor?

Sometimes they are former actors, yes. Our voice over agents are all former voice actors, so they understand the ins and outs of the business better than most. In our humble opinion, voiceover agents should always have at least some experience with voice training and acting. Otherwise they do not quite understand who they are representing.

How do I get a Voice Over Agent?

This can be tricky. Voice over agents do not fall out of the sky or grow on trees. You may need to jump through some hoops. This is why it is wise to have a demo reel you can send to various agencies in an attempt to get noticed. Alternatively, you can perform in small-scale projects and hope a voice over agent sees it.

Can I Trust My Voice Over Agent?

We should certainly hope so! Your voice over agent will be legally bound to you, which means skimming off your paychecks will land them in jail pretty quickly. It would land them in jail anyway, but they are under a particularly sizeable amount of scrutiny, relatively speaking. The best voice over talent agents are trustworthy above all else. Find a reputable voice over agent to represent you and everything should work out fine.
